00 Gundam NG 1/100

Sorry about the delay that has been happening over the serveral weeks, I have to spend some time with my Girlfriend which is going to back to melbourne soon (insert crying a lot here), I have spending a lot of time talking with her over the phone (there goes my phone bills) and yeah. But anyways, I’ll post the 00 Gundam top body in this section, hope you guys can enjoy this.

Well here it is 00 Gundam Designer’s Colour kit, well it did came with the 0 Raiser, so that it can become a 00 Raiser, well I got lazy and decide to do them in parts hahaha. Well anyways, for this review, I’ll start from the top of the Gundam to the bottom (head to feet). I think when they (Bandai) say designer colour, the colour of the models seems to be a bit lighter than the normal kits which they produce, I assume that the colour is lighter due to so that the model may have similar colour as what they will look like in the anime. But yeah I wish the cockpit can open… well anyways in with the review, I’ll rant on more about the model.

The 00 Gundam head, mmm…. The antenna does not look as sharp as they are in the anime, which I find it a bit disappointing, I’m sure they made it blunt because of safety reasons but still, I prefer it to be sharper. Red part on the head it’s actually a sticker which is red and it is covered by the clear part on top of the head, the eyes as usual, it’s a sticker, maybe I should start actually drawing the eye….

The side of the head, nothing much just a clear part which covers the hole, green lights emits from there when you turn on the lights in the body of the model, too bad I didn’t buy any battery so that you guys can see what does it look like. The bit that sticks out a at the back of the head reminds me of a elf’s ears long and thin, well in this case it just sticks out which is kind of interesting in terms of the mech’s design, something new from Bandai I guess.

The ear looking part can actually be pulled out easily

As you can see above the back of the head can be pulled out which shows a clear and a white part, the clear parts has stickers on both side, nothing fancy, just looks pretty cool that’s all.

Now with the arms and hands, the models have two different kinds of hands, one type of hand is curled up into a first and the other one is a holding weapon hand. The colours of the arm are mainly blue, white, and grey, although I did add some black lining with the Gundam makers, blue stickers along the arm, 4 GN capacitors (for further info, please go to http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/GN_Drive), 2 on each arm, as you can see in the image, it is placed along the joints of the arm, by the way, the perfect grade version actually shows 3 GN capacitors on each arm. The arms of joined to the body via a poly cap which is standard, can’t move the fingers, I think only MG and PG can move their fingers, but yeah the model actually holds the weapons pretty well, I like that.

The hand is made of 3 parts, the white hand guard, fingers piece and a palm piece, the shoulders are made of two blue pieces, the arm it self can’t rotate all the way around at the middle section, the hand can perform a 360oC spin, I don’t think there’s any thing else special about it…  the arm feels like it has very limited mobility, which is a bit disappointing, I own a NG 1/100 Justice Gundam, the arms are actually have decent movement, I guess different Gundam series have different designs and concepts.

The good old GN drive, Twin Drive system, a horrible (in my opinion, it is quite unstable in the early episode) system which the 00 Gundam uses to power the entire suit, it requires both drive to synchronise about 80% in order to be operational for combat purpose, other wise it will shut down due to topological instability as mentioned early episodes of Gundam 00 Season 2.

For this 1/100 NG, it is very easy to put it the GN Drive together, for the larger blue piece, simply just push the white poly cap into the gap, so that I can connect on to the Twin Drive mount about 00’s shoulder, the white dome, is the drive’s cover, which compose of a which top, separated by a clear part and then the white bottom, the black part is actually a light unit which require battery to be powered up, sorry I don’t have the money to buy some right now, maybe I’ll submit one with the 00 Raiser fully light up with the light.

It’s easy to take the GN drive off from the place it sits in, so that you may change the battery or change. Battery switch is located at the back of the drive.

He had done some research on the functionality of GN drive, its origin, and how it is made, you guys you check it out, if you are interested in technology as such, maybe they might be able to make and turn it into a new source of energy which are better than fossil fuel and coal…. creating a better world in doing so, but I think that’s possible right now…

The tiny black notch at the bottom of the GN drive is the power switch for the light in the GN drive, I assume that light is pretty bright… so that it can show the effect that is use in the anime…. But in comparison with the PG double raiser, a preview done by rrobbert184 from Gundam.tk had showed that the GN drives for it it’s actually pre-made, it has a motor which produce the effect of the spinning GN drive, it is rather noisy though, but I think it makes the kit worth while due to the spinning GN drive that was given in the kit, pre-made.

The white (cloudy on close up) poly cap attaches onto the GN drive mount about above the shoulder of the 00 Gundam.

GN drive mount… nothing special really, the blue bit attaches to a round poly cap which gives a fair bit of movement; the mount is attached to the booster pack of the 00 Gundam, which is another poly cap, which have decent movement for the GN drive mount.

This is how the GN drive is attached on to the backpack of the 00 Gundam, it can rotate 360 degrees, but the arm needed to be removed for it to do so. The gap on the bottom of the drive allows the attachment of the GN shield and the wing part of the 0 Raiser.

With the GN shield attach onto the side of the GN drive, I assume it is used for block in coming beam attacks, since he deployed in episode 2, like right after it was launched into battle, I don’t really its usefulness to block beams, maybe it can be taken off in case it need for certain situation.

I think that’s all for now, I still need write up the rest in few weeks time, don’t expect update straight away from next week, but I’ll do my best to keep this review coming, as I still got several other models that I’ll work on after I am done with this.

Until next time
